These assessments are often used for court cases, such as disorderly conduct or domestic violence offenses. In other situations, this assessment is used to evaluate people with severe PTSD, depression, anxiety, or other disorders which might cause the judge to be concerned. It allows the court to determine if a long-term treatment plan is a better option than when making plea bargaining or sentencing considerations.
A Mental Health Assessment helps determine if any underlying mental health factors may have been a significant factor in the alleged offense. This type of assessment is essential to creating an appropriate treatment plan and reducing repeat offenses in cases where mental health conditions exist.
